Nice way to think about this!!!<\/p>\n

Jesus said he was “the way, the truth and the life.”
\nFor many Christians, where faith has been reduced to propositional assent<\/span> (“I believe x to be true”), Jesus’ claim moves through the following sequence:<\/p>\n

Truth-Life-Way<\/div>\n

That is, we have the following order:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Truth<\/span>: I believe in Jesus<\/li>\n
  2. Life<\/span>: Because of this belief I get to go to heaven<\/li>\n
  3. Way<\/span>: And maybe, but this doesn’t always happen, I’ll begin to live more like Jesus<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What I was arguing for in the last post was this kind of sequence. A reversal of the traditional order:<\/p>\n

    Way-Life-Truth<\/span><\/div>\n

    Things go in this order:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Way<\/span>: I begin to follow the path of Jesus<\/li>\n
    2. Life<\/span>: I discover that in losing my life I find it<\/li>\n
    3. Truth<\/span>: And maybe, but this doesn’t always happen, I’ll begin to believe the claims about Jesus to be true<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
