The following article will be updated as more details come in.]<br \/>\nOn this week\u2019s episode of the \/Filmcast: <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"After Dark (TV series)\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/After_Dark_%28TV_series%29\">After Dark<\/a>, veteran film <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Journalist\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Journalist\">journalist<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Anne Thompson\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anne_Thompson\">Anne Thompson<\/a> stopped by to discuss Avatar and its box office prospects. While our full <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Podcast\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Podcast\">podcast<\/a> review of Avatar won\u2019t happen until Tuesday night, Anne made two points\/predictions that I found particularly interesting: 1) She predicted a $1 billion worldwide box office take for the film when all is said and done &#8211; a remarkable achievement for any movie, but not as high as the $1.8 billion of Cameron\u2019s <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Titanic (Three-Disc Special Collector's Edition)\" rel=\"amazon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Titanic-Three-Disc-Collectors-Leonardo-DiCaprio\/dp\/B000ANVQ0K%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB000ANVQ0K\">Titanic<\/a>, and 2) There was a high possibility that Avatar would not open as strong as other blockbusters (i.e. over $100 million domestic for opening weekend); it\u2019s based on an entirely new property and the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Marketing\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marketing\">marketing<\/a> featuring the Na\u2019vi imagery hasn\u2019t been as good as it could have been.
